The other day I was blog surfing and happened upon a blog called Frosted Petunias. She was having an Artful Bag Challange and I loved the idea. I had the perfect little bag for such a challenge.
My little doily bag. I made this bag from a doily (my great grandmother made) back in 2007 for a civil war ball my husband and I attended.
I added a lining and some black ribbon to match the dress I wore. But added nothing else to it just left it plain and simple on the outside.
When I happened upon the bag challenge, I took the doily apart and gave it a tiny makeover.
Made a little tattered flower brooch and changed the straps too.
Now I have a doily bag with a bit of character. It's not fancy but I love how it turned out. I'm thinking of making some more brooches in different colors so I can change them out when I feel I need a change.
love it ! great job!

ReplyDeleteVery elegant! Fantastic job! darn I missed out on the great pumpkin swap! Can't wait to see your little bag in person! Think we need to hit the antique and flea malls for goodies.
ReplyDeleteWow Jen! I love the way your bag turned out.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful.
I love this too, the brooch is terrific. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteJen this is beautiful! The doily makes a perfect little vintage bag. I love the way the edges create that wonderful ruffle and the brooch is the perfect touch. Great makeover! Thank you so much for playing this month :)
