A Stitchery and a Survivor

Two weeks ago Kim put out a call to swap stitcherys and I answered that call. Kim stitched up this wonderful poem written by her daughter Emily and it is now hanging on my wall. In return I sent Kim a stitchery but forgot to take a pic before I sent it off. Shame on me! So it will be a surprise for Kim when she opens it. Hey Kim can you send me a picture of it when it arrives. Thanks bunches.

Now on to this little guy.

Last Thursday at 7am my aunt who was on her way to school came knocking on my door with this scraggly looking little ball of fur. She found him lying in the middle of the highway. He was very cold and shakey and breathing heavily. I wrapped him in some blankets and fed him some soy milk. As he got warmed up his head started to swell above his left eye which he could not open and he was barely able walk.We were not sure he was going to make it thru the day. But he proved us wrong and is getting stronger each day.He looks to be only about 2 to 3 weeks old. We think some animal may have taken him from his mother and dropped him on his head. He is a little bobtailed kitten. Today he was up and out of his box walking all over the floor.We weren't sure that he could see but his sight seems to be coming as his swelling goes down however we are not sure he can hear because he doesn't seem to follow sounds. But it may still be too soon to tell the extent of his injuries. He's such a little thing but seems to have a strong will to survive

Wow Has it been a week?

I didn't realize it has been a week since my last post. Not that you missed me anyway. LOL I've been a busy girl. I finished painting my other birdhouse and will show ya on Wedenesday.
I've been doing a lot of reading and just finished the Harmony seris by Philip Gulley. Now I'm looking for some good books to read any suggestions? Who's your favorite author?

I haven't gotten very far on my Daydreamer doll but then again it'sjust been too hot to do anything that added to the fact that everytime I sit down to sew I have two furry visitors
who wanna help so I don't get much done and I've got lots to do. It's time to start thinking about Fall and Halloween items. I've had people asking me if I'm gonna sell on Etsy. Well I'd like too but don't know the first thing about doing so. HELP.

Dishes need done, grass needs mowed and thesweeper needs run but I'm just too lazy today to do so and so I tok the day off and did nothing. Tomorrow I will be working overtime to get caght up. YUK! Who invented house work anyway? and why?

I finished my Halloween apron but forgot to get a picture so I'm hoping my partner Kathie V will get a pictre of it for me. It is the first full apron I have made. i just hope she will like it.

Can I help Ma?

Trying to work an apron order is a little hard when Miss Ginger decideds it's about naptime and her spot of choice just happens to be my sewing machine. I had to take a break because I just didn't have the heart to disturb her naptime.

A Cover Up

I’ve been on this apron kick the last few days. They take me back to my childhood. I remember visitng my great grandmother and she always wore an apron for cooking,house cleaning and everyday wear. She passed when I was 10yrs old but I can still picture her in her apron.

I scoured the internet and found this tutourial for making a reversable half apron. I set to work and made these up in just a few hours. I love them. The pink and brown one is such a big change for me. I a tomboy and not particularly into girly things but this apron was fun and I can’t wait to make another one.

The green one was my first one. It’s plain and simple but made up quickly. I talked my 9 yr old into modeling for me but he refused to do the pink one. Too girly perhaps? LOL

I will definately be making more of these. I have plans to try a full apron too ut right now I’m having fun with half aprons.

I also joinned the Apronista forum. I’m still learning my way around but having fun while I do so. I hope to be able to join a few apron swaps this some also. Well thats all for now. I’m off to check out some more aprons. Hope you are staying cool and have a nice day.

Show and Tell

My show is fast approaching. In just one week it will be time to display my dolls for selling. Will they sell? I can't really say at this time but we will see. But if they don't I wont get too upset because at least my name will get out there.
My shoulder has been giving me a rough time of it. It's this darn arthritis in my right shoulder that is slowing me down. So I've had to take a few days off from doll making. Which is not a good thing but I did manage to get a few more done.I'm not sure my goal of 10 will be met but I do have 7.Of course I still have a week to go.

Kitty Ann is my own design. I was pleased with how she turned out.



Next up is Bella Anne



And Emma Anne.

I just love making these sweet little Annies.

Update: The patterns for 2 of these dolls comes from a very talented lady, De of Bowls and Annie's. I want to thank her for sharing her free pattern. It is to her that I owe thanks for getting me started in making the dolls I have been sharing with you. I meant for my dolls to be taking as a form of flattery and mean no disrespect what so-ever in. It was an error on my part for not giving credit where credit was due. One I do not plan to make again.
The Kitty Ann doll while it may not have been my original idea it is my own pattern and I sat for hours working on it and revising it til I got it the way I wanted it.
I am sorry for any problems that may have a risen while creating these dolls.

Time keeps on ticking.

Wow another week has come and gone and I'm busy sewing my raggedy little heart out.. May 2nd (Art show) will be here before I know it. My goal is to have 10 dolls created by then. I am half way there at five dolls. I've got a little less than 3 weeks to get another 5 done. I am diligently working away. I am hoping I can reach my goal but only time will tell.

I have asked my hubby to make me a sign for the show. I'll show it to you when he is done.He's a woodworker. His specialty is birdhouses. I'll have to get a pic of a few and share with you as soon as it stops raining. With all the rain we've had so far this month we should have lots of pretty May flowers. LOL.

I have also just finished making my second doll pattern and I am in the process of making up the doll. I can't wait to show it to you but until it is finished Iwill keep it a secret. It's a special one but sorry I'm not letting the cat out of the bag for now.

Busy Weekend

I did a little sewing this weekend. I made up a travel sewing bag. I have one I made several years ago for myself and I use it alot. I just love it. It's a handy thing to have. So I dedided to make up a few more. So far however one is all I have done.

But I did get them all cut out so they will be ready for sewing.

Next is an Annie of my own design. She is a 10" doll. I am working on getting the pattern made up. I did not realize just how much work goes into designing one's own patttern. I have revised the pattern since make her so she is for sure a one of a kind.
