~ PIGBERT ~ my newest creation

~ PIGBERT ~ A Moonbeam Hollow orginal design.(formerly Purty Girl Primitives). This little piigie is 12 inches long and has been white washed and then stained for a one of a kind look. And once I hit 500 likes on my facebook page A Life Made from Scratch I will be giving him away to one lucky winner. So spread the word and help me hit 500.

So why am I not giving him away on my Moonbeam Hollow page? Well I just recently created that page and don't have too many likes there yet. The page is a work in progress but eventually I will move all my creation there under the new name and keep my other page for recipes, daily happenings and other things. But I am moving in baby steps with it right now. I do hope you'll take the time to stop over and check out both pages and help me reach my goal. And be sure to spread the word.

Ready for a ride?

My uncle asked me if I could make him a couple biker dolls
and this is what I cam up with. These dolls were a bit of a challenge for me but I welcomed it and I think the dolls turned out pretty darn cute. I had never made biker chaps for a doll so I wasn't sure I could do it. I looked at many pictures and searched for patterns but couldn't find anything that would work for what I needed so I finally just drew up my own and went from there. It took 3 different drafts before I got it right but at least now I know what I am doing and I will be able to do it again if ever anyone wants another one. The clothes which you don't really see were made from clothes that were once worn by my Grandpa~whose picture is on my side bar! so they are sorta of memorial dolls also. I hadn't made dolls in a couple years but it's sorta like riding a bike, you never forget.

Today's dirt patch~

Tomorrows garden.
To some it may just look like a big ole patch of dirt but to me it looks like food on my table.
Yesterday while I was working the hubby aka Mr Chainsaw tilled our garden. I am so excited to get ready for planting. I haven't yet decided what all will go in this year. For sure peppers, onions and tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots and green beans but I want a few other things too.
He also tilled a small unused area of our yard for me to plant what ever I wish. I may plant more veggies or I may put in a few herbs. I am still a bit undecided yet. I have a bit to do to prepare it for planting yet but I can't wait to get my fingers in there and do some digging.

It's been a long time.

I'm sure I have no one still around to visit me on this old blog. I know it's been an extremely long time since I have posted here. Almost 2 years short of a few months that is.Life just sorta got away from me and I stopped blogging. I don't know why I did but life just sorta happens. Anyway I hope to get back to blogging regularly and sharing all that's going on around my home. I'll keep this post short as I have top go get ready to fix supper. Tonight we are having pork ribs prepared by my 20 yr old son. He can be a pretty good cook when he wants to. Anyway Off I go and hopefully I will be back again to more regular posting.

Hugs and Blessings.

Tattered and Torn

I'm working on purse and wanted a little something to put on the front and after searching for many ideas and not finding anything I like I created my own flower using ripped fabric and some yarn. I then took a wooden button added a little color to it using my ink pads and attached it the flower and now I have a lovely little tattered flower for the purse, which I will show you once it's done.
I just love how this flower turned out.

A Little Makeover

The other day I was blog surfing and happened upon a blog called Frosted Petunias. She was having an Artful Bag Challange  and I loved the idea. I had the perfect little bag for such a challenge.
My little doily bag. I made this bag from a doily (my great grandmother made) back in 2007 for a civil war ball my husband and I attended.
I added a lining and some black ribbon to match the dress I wore. But added nothing else to it just left it plain and simple on the outside.
When I happened upon the bag challenge, I took the doily apart and gave it a tiny makeover.
Made a little tattered flower brooch and changed the straps too.
Now I  have a doily bag with a bit of character. It's not fancy but I love how it turned out. I'm thinking of making some more brooches in different colors so I can change them out when I feel I need a change.
