Busy Weekend

I did a little sewing this weekend. I made up a travel sewing bag. I have one I made several years ago for myself and I use it alot. I just love it. It's a handy thing to have. So I dedided to make up a few more. So far however one is all I have done.

But I did get them all cut out so they will be ready for sewing.

Next is an Annie of my own design. She is a 10" doll. I am working on getting the pattern made up. I did not realize just how much work goes into designing one's own patttern. I have revised the pattern since make her so she is for sure a one of a kind.

So now that you know what I did, how was your weekend?

Gone to a new home

Well all the dolls I made using De's patterns have gone to a new home. My friend Donnely talked me into taking them to her friends quilt shop and she decided she wanted to display them in her shop. And now she wants me to make up some more of them.

Next step is to start working on making up my own patterns now that I know others like the dolls. I know I can do this if I put my mind to it.

I have to give thanks to De for sharing her wonderful patterns. They are easy to follow and the dolls make up quickly. Now I have an excuse to buy more fabric. Ha who am I fooling any time is a good time to buy fabric. Infact I bought more today while I was at the quilt shop.

I really didn't need to buy more fabric, I have tons now but it's like an adiction, I know I don't need it but it calls my name. And I was taught to listen when I am being talked to.LOL

I've had a few requests for a contest. I am at this moment working on a special doll for this and will let you know all the details once the doll is done.
I want to thank everyone for such positive feedback on my dolls. I wasn't sure when I started this anyone would even like them but you have surprised me with your kind words. I really need to get to work setting up a shop to sell now that I know someone would actually buy my girls.

Spring is finally here.

The first day of spring has ofically come and gone but it has yet to feel like spring until today. And it's about time. I am so ready for it.I found a few signs of spring right in my own yard.
The sun is shinning and daffodills are getting ready to bloom.

The birds are happy and chirpy, hopping from feeder to feeder. They wouldn't stay still long enough though for me to get a picture.
Just yesterday I watched two little birds build a nest in one of our bird houses. One would sit on the post with grass in it's beak waiting for the other one to come out of the hole so it could go in a put the grass in the nest. Then other one would sit and wait for the grass to be put in place once it decided to come out. It was really cute to watch them. And a sure sign that spring has finally arrived.

My Inspiration

Several years ago I picked up a magazine called Create&Decorate. In the magazine was a designer named Emily Franz. She designs primitve dolls and other primitive items. I fell in love with her designs and decided I too wanted to create primitve dolls. At the time I did not even know how to sew or own a sewing machine. But I knew I wanted to make dolls like hers. So I set out on new journey of creativity. I bought myself a sewing machine as a valentine's day gift that year and set to work learning to sew. I had many failed attempts at making dolls but I didn't give up. I kept at it and eventually made a few dolls that actually looked good. As they say practice makes perfect. I have made many dolls since that day, even sold a few and I have to say Thank You to Emily for sharing her wonderful designs with the world.
Here are a few Emily Franz inspired dolls.

Happy St. Patricks Day

Since I'm irish I figured I needed some St. Patty's Day decorations. Found the pattern for these fun shamrocks over on The Olde Prairie Register. It is from Nanny Goat Primitives. They made up super quick. They each have a saying " Lucky" ,"Kiss Me" and "I'm Irish".

May the Luck of the Irish be with you today.

Sally Ann

I've been visiting Viv's Blog and she's been sharing all the dolls from a swap she held earlier this year. I sure wish I had visitied her sooner. I love making dolls. Her doll pics inspired me to create Sally Ann.

A mischevious little raggedy. She looks sweet but don't let her innocent looks fool ya. She loves playing hide-n-seek and raiding the cookie jar.
