It's exciting

I'm so excited. Purty Girl Primitives is officially in business.

My dear dear friend Donnely has rented a space -for her business Down Humming Bird Lane- in the Boom Town Mill. It's an old mill that was made into a store. It's a weekend flea market in Somerset, Ohio.

Donnely is allowing me to have an area in her booth. She's so good to me.

It doesn't look like much right now but it will once things get going and we learn a few tricks of the trade. The space has so much potential and I am so excited to be given the opportunity to do this.

Eventually we hope to also work our way up to Internet sales but for now I am taking it slow and will work my way up to that.

I have to get to work on more stuff now to fill my area. DH is working on a sign for me. I just hope I do well and don't get overwhelmed because then it wouldn't be fun anymore.

I'm shocked!

I can't believe it. I went down to get out my fall decorations and I just can't believe I don't have nearly as many as I thought. I wont show you the piddley little amount I have but I guess I've been wearing blinders all these years because what I own fits in one SMALL box.
But on the bright side I guess this means unbeknownst to DH I can start collecting more. Hey if he can have a basement full of Halloween then I see no reason why I can not have more Fall decor. Right?
It's just so shocking. I who absolutely love Fall has only a very minimal amount of decorations. Say it aint so. How can it be?

Whatcha Workin' on Wednesday

Even though Leslie is not at home for hosting this today I figured I show ya what I'm working on anyway. It's a wet and rainy day here and a little chilly too. Makes for good sleepin weather.

I actually have very little to show today other than this little doll that has been waiting for some clothes since April which I am finally getting around to giving her. She is an original pattern made up by ME. I just couldn't find the right fabric for her until now and since it's fall I knew that she just had to have a fall outfit.

The rest of my project are just knid of sitting in limbo waiting to be finished.Maybe I'll have them to show next week. Til tehn and enjoy your Wednesday and as Porky Pig says "That' all Folks."

What a Birthday!

As you all know by now yesterday was my birthday and it was one of the best I've had in a long time. After renewing my drivers licences, I met Donnely for breakfast at a place called Little Phil's. The food there is delicious since the cook is a good friend.:) After we ate we headed to a place called Craft Warehouse. Let me tell you I was in prim heaven. I could have spent hours and hours there. There are so many prim things in this place it was like a prim sensory overload. Of course you have to have a vendor's licences to shop there since they are a wholesale place but Donnely does so I was good to go. I could have spent hundreds there but I refrained myself and only spent about $70. Here is a little of what I got: a rug, a Gooseberry Patch Cookbook that I used to cook supper* tonight, a primitives sign and bucket and a barn star and somethings not shown, pip berry srays, rusty wire, bells and tin moons and a crow ornie for a friends b-day. Donnely also gave me some podka pods and cinnamon sticks that I will use to make some fixins.

When I got home look what was waiting for me.

Brendan was so sweet and thoughtful to bake me a cake. What mother could ask for more. He's becoming a real pro at cake baking.

And hubby made me this crate to hang on the wall which I am going to paint black and put one of my dolls in. It will look great on the wall once we get my front room redecroated.

Donnely and her sister Diane gave me a wonderful little tea set. It's so pretty I just love it. It came with a funny little card but I was told I'm not allowed to show it since there are pics of them being silly.Maybe Donnley wont read this and I can show you later. (insert evil laugh here) LOL!

But the gifts don't end there, today my friend Patty stopped by and gave me a cute outdoor scarecrow decoration.
She knows how much I like scarecrows.

And my friend Carole said she has a gift for me. My mom said she is still working on my gift and I will get it soon. Man I am feelin the love this year. I haven't gotten so much stuff since I was a kid. What a wonderful birthday it was.

* supper was Northern Sausage soup and Corny Corn Bread. Oh so very DELICIOUS! Makes ya wish you had some doesn't it. LOL.

Just a little tired.

I started work at 7 this morning and ended at 4.I had planed to get groceries after work, since that's were I work but guess what I forgot to put checks in my check book .So I drove all the way home.By then I was just plain worn out because 7 days a week I am up at 5am and not usually in bed til after 11pm due to work schedules. But anyway back to the story. So I got the checkbook DH and I headed back to the store and got our groceries and a little extra that I hadn't planned on but that happens most times when I take him with me.
By the time we got home it was almost 6:30 and let me tell you I was dragging and my dogs were barkin(feet hurt). I wanted to go home and take a nap. I could hear my pillow callin' my name however I had so much stuff I wanted to do.Like make the Cinni Mini's Sandy had posted a few days ago, work on new curtians for my front room make over( more on this later) and I still had to fix supper as much as I didn't want to but my stomach was a hollerin' and so I put Brendan to work helpin' fix meatball stew. Which was quite yummy by the way.
At this point I could have fallen asleep while I as eating I was so tired and I didn't get to any of my projects I was just too tired. Then it started to rain, just one of those gentle summer showers so DH and I went out sat on the porch and just listened to the pitter patter of the rain drops as they fall to the ground and I have to say it was quite relaxing. It actually refreshed me and it was a nice way to end the evening. So how was your Sunday?

I also wanted to say Thanks to Heather for another award. My second WOO HOO. I'll get it posted just as soon as I have a little more time. Thanks so much Heather.

Whatcha Workin' on Wednesday

Wednesday again already? Wow how time flies when you creating. I've been on a roll this week in getting things done. Not only did I get the Andie doll done I showed you a couple of days ago but I also finished my Halloween Doll, Miss Betty Boo. A Cats Pyjamas Pattern. Isn't she adorable. The little white pimpkin was her orginal head it didn't work out as a head so I went with some wool felt instead and it works great.

I am also working on a Tennessee Ridge Primitives Pattern.

I am making this for a door prize at my annual Autumn Celebrate comming up in October. More about the party as it gets closer.

I am working on a few others things in that I can't show you yet since they are for my birthday giveaway to be annouced on Friday. Guess that means you'll have to check back to find out what it will be. See ya in the comments and don't forget to stop by and see what Leslie and the rest of the girls are workin on.

Aprons

Got my apron from the Booming Aprons Halloween in July swap. We were to choose Fall or Halloween aprons. I picked Fall and here is the apron I received from Kathie V as seen on my unwilling model. Who agreed to model only if I would not show his face. Isn't he adorable,LOL. Kids are so funny sometimes.

Anyway it is reversible and I love it. Thanks so much Kathie.

Look what else she included. A little scarecrow knick-knack, I love scarecrows. and a much needed oven mitt with some wooden utensils.

Kathie chose a Halloween theme and here is the apron I made for her. It was the first Bib apron I had made. I was worried how it would turn out and if Kathie would like but she says it is perfect.

Finished

I finished the Andy doll I showed you last Wednesday. I coffee stained him but didn't do his clothes because I like them without staining.

This is a Prims and Raggs pattern. The directions were pretty clear and it was pretty easy to work with. Now I just hope the person who ordered it likes it.

Now that he is finished I can get started on my Halloween doll. I have so many projects going at once that I've had to stop and make myself work on only one at a time. I just wanna be able to do them all but I have to be realistic and not over whelm myself. Plase tell me I'm not the only one who does this, what projects do you have going?

Another Giveaway

Cheryl is having a giveaway. Isn't this a great sign. I'd love to win it but I don't seem to have any luck when it comes to giveaways. Anyway stop buy for your chance at winning it.

Natures Gift

Dh was outside today and heard some chirping when he looked up he saw a little beak sticking out of the hole of one of many many birdhouses we have in the backyard. All built by him of course. Then the little birdie stuck his head out farther and so DH was able to get a pic.
I love viewing nature at it's best.
One last thought if anyone ever tells you that you eat like a bird tell them your insulted because birds eat quite alot. We filled the 5 bird feeders we have yesterday and they are empty already. Sometimes I think those birds eat better than we do. We feed them year round. But I'm not complaining beacuse I enjoy seeing all the different birds that stop at our feeders.

Another visitor

Seems it's a week of critter visits here at my house.Brendan went out yesterday monrning to feed our critters and found this Praying Mantis attached to the inside of our back door and it decided that is where it wanted to stay.It was there all day Friday and today. We finally had to remove it so we could shut the screen door. I didn't want it coming inside the house where the cats could get it.

Proud Momma

My son who turned 16 on the 9th wanted to bake his own b-day cake for his birthday. He didn't want any decorations or candles- he is getting too big for that stuff. LOL

I'm so proud of him. He did it all on his own with no help from me. Sure it was a box mix but this is a big accomplishment for him since he struggles a little with reading. Besides how many 16yr old boys can bake a cake. Shoot my own hubby can't even do that.

Brendan loves to cook and even makes supper for the the guys when I am at work. It is teaching him to be independent and I know he wont starve when he is older and out on his own.

BTW the cake is a red velvet cake with vanilla icing. And it taste pretty darn good.

Whatcha Workin' on Wednesday

I actually have a good bit to show this time. I've been a busy busy girl this past week.

First is a 22inch doll I am working on for a special order. This doll will personalized. It is for a little boy who will be born on my birthday 8-25. How cool is that. This doll has not been an easy on for me. I sorta stressed out about it cause this is my first special order. But then I realized I was making it too hard on myself and once I stopped worrying the doll is coming along nicely. I do hope they will like it. My apologies to Donnely for spazing. She knows what I am talking about.

You may ask what this strange looking orange thing is. Well it is a doll head. I know you can't tell it right now but believe me it is. It's a Halloween doll. I'll show the rest of the doll next week.

I had a lonely ole gourd sitting around collecting dust and I thought Hmm what can I do with it and then decided a birdhouse would be a nice project for it. I seem to be on a star kick lately with my birdhouses. But it looks too plain to me. Any ideas as to what would spruce it up?

And finally a white pumpkin.I love white pumpkins. This pumpkin was actually supposed to be a doll head but it didn't work out right so I just added some leaves and a stem and it was great as a pumpkin. I just love Fall!

So now that ya know what I'm workin on stop by and see what Leslie and the rest of the Wednesday bunch are workin on.

An unexpected visitor

The picture is a little fuzzy but then again so it the unexpected visitor. LOL
Went out this morning to take DH to work and he spotted something moving in one of our trees. It was a furry little black squirrel. This is the first time in the 13yrs that we've lived in this house that we have seen a squirrel. He was helping himself to the bird seed in on of the many feeders we have in our yard.
Now I think the DH needs to build a feeder for the squirrels too. I mean it's only fair the birds shouldn't get all the goodies now should they?

Whatcha Workin' on Wednesday

It's that time again and I actually have some things to show you this time.
First is the birdhouse I promised.
Blue is my favorite color. I think any bird would be pleased to have such a fine looking house.

Then I couldn't wait to show these to you.

Yep it's halloween bowl fillers. I found the pattern at Annie's Cupboard in her free patterns section. They were quick and easy and oh so fun to make.I love Fall and Halloween!

So now that you know what I'm workin' on why not stop over and see what Leslie's workin on.
Be sure to stop back I might actually have a doll to show you soon.

Senic View

Kathy shared her senic drive the other day and so I thought I'd do the same.

First we have the quilt barn I pass everyday. I'm not sure what the name of the block is but I love the colors they used.

Next is the Phillip Sheridan Civil War monument- Not the best picture but it's hard to take a good picture when you are driving.

Here is one of the many many corn fields I pass. When I was in high school we called the kids from this area Children of the Corn because all the corn fields.

Then here is my favorite house. It looks so prim on the outside. I would love for my house to look like this. I'd love the see the inside. I can just imagine all the prim treasures it must hold.

Well that's all for today I have many more interesting things to show but I'll save it for another day. I have to have something to keep you coming back.

Monday, August 4, 2008

Wow Has it been a week?

I didn't realize it has been a week since my last post. Not that you missed me anyway. LOL I've been a busy girl. I finished painting my other birdhouse and will show ya on Wedenesday.
I've been doing a lot of reading and just finished the Harmony seris by Philip Gulley. Now I'm looking for some good books to read any suggestions? Who's your favorite author?

I haven't gotten very far on my Daydreamer doll but then again it'sjust been too hot to do anything that added to the fact that everytime I sit down to sew I have two furry visitors
who wanna help so I don't get much done and I've got lots to do. It's time to start thinking about Fall and Halloween items. I've had people asking me if I'm gonna sell on Etsy. Well I'd like too but don't know the first thing about doing so. HELP.

Dishes need done, grass needs mowed and thesweeper needs run but I'm just too lazy today to do so and so I tok the day off and did nothing. Tomorrow I will be working overtime to get caght up. YUK! Who invented house work anyway? and why?

I finished my Halloween apron but forgot to get a picture so I'm hoping my partner Kathie V will get a pictre of it for me. It is the first full apron I have made. i just hope she will like it.

Well I think I've bored you enough so I'll say goodnight.
