My son who turned 16 on the 9th wanted to bake his own b-day cake for his birthday. He didn't want any decorations or candles- he is getting too big for that stuff. LOL
I'm so proud of him. He did it all on his own with no help from me. Sure it was a box mix but this is a big accomplishment for him since he struggles a little with reading. Besides how many 16yr old boys can bake a cake. Shoot my own hubby can't even do that.
Brendan loves to cook and even makes supper for the the guys when I am at work. It is teaching him to be independent and I know he wont starve when he is older and out on his own.
BTW the cake is a red velvet cake with vanilla icing. And it taste pretty darn good.
Great Job!!!! My kids tried to make a cookiest he other day and were having a hard following the directions. They turned out great, but they had a hard time cooperating.

Yay for Brenden!!
ReplyDeleteTell him he can make a Birthday cake for me, too!
(Although I would prefer he not try to cram candles on mine... he might burn the house down!)
WOW, great looking Cake!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!
Take Care,
Heather
I think that's great! Boys should know how to do all that stuff too...our son cooks and loves it and does our laundry even! I tell him that his future wife will love me for it and I think he's proud of himself as well! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your son! Tell him the cake looks delicious!
